W.M. MD was raised and educated in Florida. She completed her residency and fellowship training in California before moving home to be close to family. She holds an MD and MBA. Despite the formal education, the majority of her knowledge about personal finance is self-taught. She has two boys who keep her busy and continues to work as a neurologist.
Financial independence means income from investments can cover all personal expenses. By definition, for financially independent people, wage labor is not required for personal subsistence.
It means not working for money.
It sounds like an impossible dream, except, it's perfectly achievable. That is, it's achievable for many people.
