In 2013 I was early in my medical training and found myself unexpectedly pregnant. Navigating pregnancy and motherhood with medical training was not easy and few resources were available at the time.
Why blog?
Fast forward to 2022 and I’m now a practicing neurologist and mother of two. I had both kids in training and I wouldn’t take it back. From this side of residency I know that practicing medicine remains one of the best ways to spend your working life. We perform intellectually stimulating work that helps people live better and longer lives. That dream of medicine still exists.
I have also found that it’s very possible to have a family and have a career, but having it all takes creativity and planning. And it’s all made a lot easier by having strong finances. Money is a tool that can transform your life by giving you options. Physicians, in general, have the ability to become financially independent, and they should in order to live better lives. Financial flexibility is life flexibility.
In this blog I will write about motherhood, medicine, and personal finance.
